For Jan Zientarra, Wenholthausen is "a nice place to be," he says. And Wenholthausen is also the place that he and his wife Kristin will enrich with a new business. On the Südstraße in the heart of the village, where Franzes Bakery and later Dieter Kaiser's systemic consulting were once located, a "concept store for lovers of good taste" will open on Sunday, December 8th.

Wenholthausen offers perfect conditions thanks to its tourism and the "colorful mix of many target groups," says Zientarra. He and his wife Kristin stood in front of the shop on their first visit to the hotel and were delighted that it had become available at the same time as the business idea. In the last few days, the final preparations for the opening have been in full swing. And at the Advent market last weekend, they had already had great conversations with many nice people from the area, says Jan Zientarra.

This is how the store presents itself from the outside.

It has been four years since Kristin Zientarra began designing old horns. They quickly became very popular. Little by little, the concept continued to grow under the company name "Walddesignerin". "The range grew continuously and always with a lot of love," says Jan Zientarra. Vintner's wine, gin with the "DNA of the place where we lived at the time" and individual jewelry handmade by Kristin Zientarra - all this and much more is available online at walddesignerin.de. And soon also in the company's first store.

"I enjoy individual and creative woodwork the most," says Jan Zientarra. Working with his hands is absolutely fulfilling for him. And another of his great passions has always been fly fishing. A hobby that he later turned into a career: Jan Zientarra has worked full-time in the industry - as an instructor in his own fly fishing school, in companies or as a destination scout in countries such as Canada, Alaska or Norway.

Wine and Flies

Accordingly, there is a lot to do with fly fishing in his online shop. Zientarra wants to make the fishing experience even more enjoyable by delivering flies and wine by the water. When he describes his idea, it is easy to see how enthusiastic he is about the hobby. Fly fishing has also been given a small space in the shop on Südstraße. Ten square meters to be exact - ten square meters with selected products specifically for fly fishing in the Sauerland. "To supply regional and tourist customers," says Zientarra.

In addition to culinary delights, the new store also offers selected products related to fly fishing.

The remaining space in the store offers a wide range of products: wines and gins, delicacies, jewelry, woodwork and much more. "This will be a concept store for lovers of good taste," is how Zientarra describes his vision.

He sources some of the products locally from the Sauerland region. But the range also includes organic products such as wines and oils or champagne from France, Spain or Greece. They only want the best of everything, but on a small scale. There will also be products that carry the label "Made in Wenholthausen". Zientarra has made it possible for himself to work very close to his shop. "I am very lucky that I can also produce my goods directly on site. This has enabled him to create a real "well-being oasis" in Wenholthausen, as he describes it himself.

There are also already new ideas that are to be implemented after the opening. These include a "fly machine" so that fly fishermen can really get what they need at any time.

In short: "In the forest designer's store you will find products inspired by nature and life," is how Jan Zientarra describes the new shop. On Sunday, December 8th, he and his wife Kristin will be inviting people to the opening for a drink and to browse through the "world of beautiful things and fine taste."
